The City Council held a public hearing on Monday, June 8, 2026 and adopted the Northeast Area Specific Plan, marking a key step in advancing a vision for a new mixed-use district in the Northeast Area. The City Council also adopted related amendments to the General Plan, Zoning Map, and Zoning Ordinance, as well as the Environmental Impact Report. The Planning and Transportation Commission held a public hearing on May 18, 2026 and recommended the City Council adopt the Northeast Area Specific Plan and related amendments to the General Plan, Zoning Map, and Zoning Ordinance, as well as certify the Environmental Impact Report.

The Planning and Transportation Commission held a public hearing on March 16, 2026 at 7 PM to provide input on the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Northeast Area Specific Plan during the 45-day public review period. These draft concepts incorporated input received from the Planning and Transportation Commission during their Study Session on September 18, 2023.
